Abstract
Performing the duty, regardless of its material gain and loss, formed the fundamental principle of Imam Khomeini's (may God have mercy on him) transcendent thought. He was a trained Imam of the Ashura school. Accordingly, defense and jihad in the Imam's thought is a divine duty. Defending the Islamic country is a divine duty that is nothing higher than it, and it is obligatory on every individual in society, young and old, men and women. In this article, the author has first tried to explain his understanding of Imam Khomeini (may God have mercy on him) by examining his words and works. Then, in the framework of the divine thought of Imam (may God have mercy on him), the imposed war of Iraq against Iran (holy defense) has been studied.
