Abstract
With the occurrence of the Islamic Revolution, the Iraqi Baath regime and Saddam Hussein came to the conclusion that in a historical opportunity they could achieve the three main motivations and goals of trying to gain the leadership of the Arab world, filling the power vacuum caused by the fall of the Shah, and compensating for the humiliation caused by the conclusion of the 1975 agreement. get Therefore, with the realization of these goals, on 31 Shahrivar 1359, they started aggression against the Islamic Republic. Based on this, they planned operational strategies. This research seeks to identify these strategies with the analytical and descriptive method and the use of library tools and interviews. The results of this research indicate that the operational strategies of the Iraqi Baath regime can be planned in 6 stages. 1- Nationwide invasion and occupation (31/06/1359 to 30/10/1359), 2- Insistence in maintaining the occupied areas (30/10/1359 to 20/03/1361), 3- Retreating and settling on border lines (20/03/1361 to 02/12/1362), 4- Trying to prevent Iranian forces from entering Iraq (02/12/1362 to 28/01/1367), 5- Trying to recapture the captured areas in inside the territory of Iraq (28/01/1367 to 04/04/1367), 6- Attempt to reoccupy some targets inside the territory of Iran - attacking the defense lines and taking prisoners to balance the number of prisoners (04/04/1367 to 06/05/1367).
